The 5 Critical Rules

28 hours/week max

During regular school terms. Violations can lead to status revocation.

40 hours/week during long breaks

Summer, winter, and spring breaks only.

Permission required

Apply at the airport on arrival — free, simple. Working without it is illegal.

No adult-entertainment industry

Pachinko, hostess bars, mahjong parlors, nightclubs — all completely prohibited.

Studies come first

Poor attendance can affect your visa renewal.

Nepali ↔ Japanese. N2+ recommended.
